The plot is located in a very quiet area in Sotogrande, facing to Guadalquiton area. It is part of a bigger plot which is currently gardened with a couple of beautiful cork oaks. The quietness felt in the place is something that we wanted to keep and reflect with the new house.
There were 4 key points to work with:
- The horizontal topograpghy.
- The cork oark in the middle of the plot to incorporate.
- The prevailing winds from East-West.
- The frontal views towards Guadalquiton.
A series of stone walls are proposed as windbreaks that generate a sequence of spaces. These walls are interrupted or lengthened depending on the spaces to be connected. Views of the garden are sought, both near and far. These walls serve to articulate the spaces, but also to delimit privacy and delimit an exterior area to be used for that particular space. We generate spaces to live enjoying inner and outer peace, individually and as a family.
The presence of a cork oak in the center of the plot relocates the house.
The result is a simple volumetry. Stone, water, the play of light and shadow and landscaping without great artifice accompany this process. Only, from the arrival, on that discreet wall of the main facade, a subtle element appears that wants to be the protagonist: the simple, broken silhouette of the staircase, simple, without ornaments.
